Hot sands swirled around her on the desert breeze, its mournful cry sharp and clear like the burning sparks above. Not a soul stirred in the featureless desert, broken only by the sage, the cactus or the red rock. Zmetria's Recollection of the Rat King
Zmetria recalls just who made her, and why. Born into a twisted alliance between the Nazis and a malevolent defector known as the Rat King, Zmetria's early life was marked by abduction, manipulation, and the unspeakable horrors that unfolded in the hidden depths beneath St. Petersburg. A child prodigy kidnapped and molded by the Rat King, Zmetria Klondashki's brilliant mind in biology and chemistry became an instrument of cruelty during the prelude to World War II. Tasked by the Nazis, she conducted some of the most heinous experiments on war prisoners, leaving an indelible mark on the annals of human suffering. From the the Rat King's subterranean sewer shadows, where kidnapped children were subjected to mind-altering experiments, honing their skills in various disciplines with the intent of transforming them into the Rat King's personal army, Zmetria rose as the worst of that legacy. The human child seemed determined to race the centaurs and was doing an impressive job keeping up with his hooved friends. The child’s wild straw-colored hair was the texture of his father’s but closer to his mother’s color. He ran
